February 5 – The Tao of Physics: Science and Religion in the 21st Century
Andy Pica
Alfred North Whitehead once wrote that, “When we consider what religion is for mankind, and what science is, it is no exaggeration to say that the future course of history depends upon the decision of this generation as to the relations between them.” In our culture, science and religion are viewed as comprising mutually exclusive worldviews. Science and religion are typically viewed as being in conflict with one another, or, alternatively, that they are concerned with two entirely different domains of life.
This talk will present a synopsis of the honors course, The Tao of Physics that Andy taught at Salisbury University. Topics covered include evolution, creationism, and intelligent design; eastern mysticism and quantum holism; body/soul dualism, materialism, and process philosophy; big bang theory and cosmology.

In this service John Wright will explore stories of courageous love, both large and small. If you have a story of courageous love that you’d like to share, please e-mail John at minister@uufs.net.
John received his Master of Divinity degree from the Starr King School for the Ministry, the Unitarian Universalist Seminary in Berkeley, California. John now serves as Consulting Minister to UUFS.
