SALISBURY, MD – Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County invites the public to a foundation blessing ceremony for another new home to be built in Salisbury.
A foundation blessing ceremony for the 68th Habitat for Humanity home built in Wicomico County will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:30am at 711 Grace St, Salisbury, MD.
The Deravine family has been selected as the Partner family for this home. Roude and Nancie Deravine have two daughters and have been waiting for this day for two years. Roude Deravine works at Perdue Farms at their Salisbury processing plant and Nancie works part-time as a CNA.
The fundraising was made possible by the Community Investment Tax Credit program. In 2018, 52 donors contributed $77,120 for the construction of four projects to be built in the Church Street neighborhood. The Deravine’s, Habitat’s newest partner family, were chosen after a rigorous screening process that qualifies applicants who earn between 30-60% of the area median income, have a need for decent housing and are willing to partner with Habitat to build their home. Ability to pay is also important because Habitat sells the family the home with a 30-year, no-interest mortgage. “Not only will having their own home enrich the lives of the Deravine family,” said Molly Hilligoss, executive director, “but they will be playing a part in the revitalization of the Church Street neighborhood.”
