An Interfaith Day at Davies!
On Sunday, February 24, the Davies community will partner with the Interfaith Council of Suburban Maryland for a day devoted to open dialogue and exploration. The schedule includes:
10:30 – Worship Service with guest preacher Dawud Abdur-Rahman speaking on “Muslim Strategies for Social Justice” and exploring the intersection between Islamic and Unitarian Universalist values.
11:40 – Refreshments and Fellowship in the Lounge; Sermon Discussion in Room 2.
12:15 – Lunch for those participating in afternoon programs.
12:15 – 1:10pm – Town Hall Meeting with Pastor Norm! Come with your questions, concerns, and curious minds. Possible topics include: Name Change, 8th Principle, Path to Ordination, Unitarian Universalist Prayer, etc.
1:30 – 3pm – “Beyond Mere Tolerance and Toward Mutual Respect.” Davies opens its doors to the broader community, offering brief presentations from visiting Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Unitarian Universalist clergy followed by questions, answers, and conversation.
This daylong event offers a unique opportunity for Davies members to explore faith traditions different than their own. Just as important, it positions us as a vital, religiously liberal element of the cultural landscape. We hope you’ll join us!
