Public Hearing in Berlin on Off shore wind farms

Hi Eastern Shore friends, just making sure you saw this opportunity:

Eastern Shore friends in the Interfaith Power & Light network,

Thanks for your good work going green in your faith communities!

I’m writing with an upcoming opportunity for folks in the vicinity of Berlin, Maryland.

The wind blowing off Maryland’s coast is a blessing — but only if we embrace it.

After three years of work by our communities and our colleagues in the Maryland Climate Coalition, and after several more years of subsequent progress, there are finally real proposals for offshore wind farms to be built off the coast of Maryland.

The Maryland Public Service Commission now has to decide on these proposals, and will be holding a public hearing in Berlin:

Saturday, March 25th, 12 noon – 2 pm
Stephen Decatur Middle School Auditorium, 9815 Seahawk Road

We are looking for folks from faith communities — someone like you — who would be willing to attend the hearing and make a 2-minute statement about why Marylanders of faith are concerned about climate change, are committed to caring for Creation by shifting to cleaner power, and support offshorewind development in Maryland.

We will work with you to prepare your testimony — right now, we are simply looking to find folks who’d be willing to speak out in this way so you can put it in your calendars, and save the date. We only have about a dozen emails of folks in the vicinity of the hearing — so I’d really appreciate your help ensuring strong faith voices speak out for clean energy on 3/25.

If you can testify, please RSVP to Rachel Brustein, our Maryland organizer, at rachel@ipldmv.org.

If there is someone else in your congregation whom you think might be interested in this opportunity, we’d welcome the help connecting with them —

Thank you — with blessings for all you do,

Joelle and Rachel
