This Sunday’s Program

May 20 – Our Fifth Principle in Action – Congregational Meeting and Elections, Membership Committee

Congregational Meeting

Dear Fellows:

This notice is a reminder that the UUFS will be holding a Congregational Meeting on Thursday November 19, 2009, at 6 p.m. at the Fellowship.

Only members may vote, but all are welcome if they are interested in contributing to the discussion of our two questions to be considered:

  • Should the UUFS change its Sunday service time to 10:30 a.m. year round?
  • Are there any modifications to the Budget proposed by the Board for the 2nd half of the current fiscal year (January-June 2010)?
    • The budget must be passed by majority vote in its final form.

The meeting will be conducted beautifully according to Roberts’ Rules of Order as called for in our bylaws.

I cannot attend that meeting on a thursday eve. I know it is convient for some, however not all. I especially chose to have sunday’s off from my parttime job so that I could attend ‘sunday’ meetings. I have generally worked on thursday afternoon and nites. This schedule was not proposed to the general fellowship. I would have voted FOR sunday and NOT a week nite. I would have liked to atttend.

I am also unable to attend due to Graduate school. John is also unable to attend because he needs to be home since it is a school night.

What are the procedures for proxy vote for this meeting? Where can the budget being proposed be found? I didn’t recieve a letter regarding this congregational meeting. Was one sent out?

    THanks,
    Ashley

  • A letter of notification was mailed to all members on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.

  • The proxy vote form is now available for download. If you would like to review the proposed budget, that modifies the budget approved by the fellowship at the congregational meeting in May, you need to contact Ed Steffes.

  • Monika, I am sorry you are unable to attend. Your input is valuable. In your comment you wrote “I know it is convenient for some, however not all.” I hope you can understand it would be impossible to select a date that “all” can attend. Case in point, the annual congregational meeting is typically held the third Sunday in May. Most members are aware of this. Even though this is a long standing meeting, approximately 50% of the membership is able to attend.

In your comment you wrote “I would have voted FOR Sunday and NOT a week night.” The forum for expressing your preference is the UUFS Board meeting. The meeting is held on the second SUNDAY of each month. Board meetings are open to the fellowship.

Again, I am sorry you are unable to attend. Please feel free to submit a proxy vote form.
