You may have heard the news- Our Social Action Committee is planning a “Peace and Unity Through Diversity Day” for September 19 (the Saturday before “World Peace Day”). They will be inviting a large, diverse group of community and religious groups to attend and participate as fully as they are willing. It promises to be an absolutely wonderful event.
TONIGHT, Thursday, July 16, 2009, 7:00 PM at UUFS, there will be a planning/information meeting regarding the event. We have invited several groups to join us -including the Islamic Center, the Hindu Temple, Beth Israel Synagogue, the Baha’I Community, Asbury United Methodist Church, the Center for Conflict Resolution at Salisbury University, and the Peace Alliance of the Lower Shore, among several others.
I would also like to invite anyone of you who are willing and able to join us for this meeting as well. I’m imagining this event involving many of our committees- Publicity, Building and Grounds, Hospitality, RE- and probably others I’ve not thought of! If you’re on one of these committees, or believe that our Unitarian Universalist principles call us to seek common ground with other “seekers” in our community please plan to attend this very special meeting.
